In "Novo universal dictionary of Italian " by P. Petrocchi 1902, lists the following definitions of the word "waste"
- the decline (responded with a refusal)
- abdication (and made through cowardice the great refusal)
- the person refused (to take one for rejection)
- people and things from sinking, rejected by the sea on the shore (they went to see the waste)
- end of card players (behind your refusal, I have come to more flowers)
So it is right Today we also referred to as "Company of waste", as a century ago did not even gave a definition like the one we now ("waste" any substance or object which the holder discards or intends or has the ' required to discard).
Certainly, a century ago, there were many things that we wanted to undo!
